James “Bubba” Barba, 69, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at St. Agnes Hospital after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born April 16, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the son of Savas “Sam” and Mary (Pothas) Barba.
Bubba was the real deal; especially when it came to motorcycles. He had friends near and far and was loved by many. An avid collector of many things, Bubba especially loved guns, knives, diecast automobiles, skulls and Elvis memorabilia. Bubba loved the Packers and would not miss watching a game.
Bubba is survived by his son, Tony (Kathy) Barba of Waupun and their 3 children; Tyler, Trista and Katelin; Tony’s son, Matt Wojkiewicz of Fond du Lac; a sister, Bubba Sue Spang of Fond du Lac and her 3 children; his goddaughter, Shara (Christopher) Byas of Milwaukee, and a special nephew and niece, Brian Immel and Selina Cadogan, both of Fond du Lac; a cousin, Lisa (Michael) Gerold of San Francisco, Cal.; and a niece, Syrenity Kahlhammer, of Eldorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Ann Kahlhammer ; and his nephew, Joshua Kahlhammer.
Visitation for Bubba will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow the services.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Agnesian Hospice Hope for their care of Bubba during his last days. Amongst many other friends, the family wishes to give special thanks to Rick and Amber Hartung as well as John and Dawn Hoekstra.
