James C. Nett

James C. "One-Eye" Nett, 74, of Twin Lakes Drive, North Fond du Lac, died peacefully Sunday, February 22, 2009 at St. Agnes Hospital, surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born July 28, 1934 in Fond du Lac, the son of Clemens and Ellen Rose Fox Nett. After the age of six he was raised by the Menne family in Dotyville. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School. James was a veteran of the US Army serving his country from 1957-1959. On April 4, 1964 he married Kathleen M. Luby at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. He worked for Mercury Marine for 30 years retiring in 1996. He worked in Heat Treat for three years under Jack Bestor and then 27 years in Plant 15. After retirement he bagged groceries at Pick-N-Save for 10 years and was a crossing guard for a year. James was a member of Holy Family Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and coached youth baseball for 15 years. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packers, was an avid golfer at Oak Green, traveling to Florida for the past 23 years, and loved spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.SURVIVORS: his wife, Kathy; two sons, Thomas (special friend, Trisha) Nett, Lansing, MI, Daniel (Ambra) Nett, Fond du Lac; one daughter-in-law, Kathy (Bob) Teofilo, Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Joshua (Fiancée, Elizabeth) Nett, Justin Nett, Jasmyn Nett, Julianna Nett and their step sister, Tina Teofilo; one brother, John "Jack" Nett, Green Bay; three special cousins, Robert (Sharon) Mueller, Dubuque, IA, Marilyn (Bill) Anzur, Beaverton, OR, Kathleen (Dean) Collins, Holcombe, WI; three godsons, Mark Feyen, Eric Mueller, Steve Crowley. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Marie Luby McCrory, Fond du Lac; three sisters-in-law, Connie (Bob) Bisson, Fond du Lac, Sandy (Gary) Rathman, Fond du Lac, Sharon (Kevin) Crowley, Goodman, WI; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Shirley) Luby, Gary Silah, both of Fond du Lac; very dear and special friends of 47 years, David (Shirley) Feyen, Fond du Lac; special friends, Bill (Evie) Whittaker, Wayne (Sophie) Ristau, both of Fond du Lac, Sandy Olig, Mayville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Don Luby; two sisters-in-law, Ann Nett and Mary Silah; a godson and nephew, Frank Nett; a nephew, John Nett, Jr.; a special cousin, Eugene Mueller.



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 8 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 9 "“ 10 AM at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Patrick Heppe officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his very dear friends for all of the visits and prayers during his illness, to Dr. Michael Sergi for 20 years of loving care, to Dr. VanderKooy, Dr. Lundberg, Sister Rebecca and the staff of Central Wisconsin Cancer Center for their care and compassion, and to St. Agnes Hospital ICU and 5 West Staff for the excellent care given to James.
