James C. Wempner, 84, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born June 21, 1934 in Fond du Lac, the son of Elmer and Mary Petrie Wempner. James served in the U.S. Marines, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. On June 14, 1958 he married Mary “Marg” Flaherty at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2007. James worked for Mercury Marine, Rueping Leather, and retired from Bestt Rollr. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus, Fond du Lac Bowling Association, and coached Fond du Lac Boys Baseball. James enjoyed fixing things, raising his family, and spending time at the cottage.
He is survived by five children, James (Lisa) Wempner of Fond du Lac, Steve (Cindy) Wempner of Middleton, Chris (Tony) Fleischman of Campbellsport, Daniel (Amy) Wempner of Kiel, and Brian (Shelley Enders) Wempner of Fond du Lac; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Nehls of Fond du Lac and Joan Plowden of Titusville, FL; one brother, David (Donna) Wempner of Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Mary Wempner of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Glen Grater of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marg; brother, Don Wempner; and sister, Elizabeth Grater.
The visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
