James E. “Jim” Schneider, 80, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born in Taycheedah on October 27, 1934, the 16th of 18 children to Victor and Frances (Halfmann) Schneider.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957-1963. He retired from Mercury Marine in 1999 after working there for 32 years. Jim was a member, past-president and trustee of Eagles Aerie #270. He enjoyed baseball, shooting pool, gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching the Packer and Brewer games.
Surviving Jim are two daughters; Laurie Schneider and Peggy Schneider; 3 granddaughters, Cheyenne, Cierra and Olivia Lavrenz; a grandson, Taylor Eppler; 7 siblings, Olive Richter, John (Marion), Frances Stubbe, Alois (Bette), Victor (Mary Lou), Mary “Tutz” White, Patricia Pittler; and 2 sisters-in-law, Marie Schneider and Carol Schneider. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; siblings, Marie Krug, Gregor, Norbert (Evelyn), Robert, Ernest, Martha (Albert) Laudolff, Edward (Romilda), Anthony (Sue), Leo; and 4 brothers-in-law, Gerald Richter, Willard Stubbe, Lee White and Robert Pittler.
Visitation for Jim will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac and again on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the funeral home from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. Following the Saturday visitation, a short prayer service will be held at 11:00 AM prior to entombment at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Trier-Puddy Post #75.
