James E. Kuechler

James E. Kuechler, age 79, of 370 F Southlake Circle, Fond du Lac, WI and a resident of Lomira for many years died on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on October 2, 1927 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the son of Ethan and Louise (Klink) Kuechler. On May 25, 1949 he married Loretta A. Schmidt of Kewaskum, WI. In 1946 Jim started working for Galloway West at Lomira, then Waterford Foods and then the Borden Co. in Fond du Lac for forty-four years. He was a twenty-five year member of the Lomira Lion's Club and was President of the Club in 1978 and 1979. Jim was a thirty-year member of the Lomira Fire Department. In 1959 he became the Village Constable and held that position for four years. In May of 1961 Mr. Kuechler was appointed the first Chief of Police of the Village of Lomira, an office he held for thirty years with the great respect of the community. He had many friends on the Wisconsin State Patrol and on the Dodge County Sheriff's Department. He had many close associations with neighboring police departments. In 1987 he was honored with the Citizen of the Year award for the Village of Lomira.Jim is a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira and a very faithful servant of the Lord. He is an avid Packer, Brewer, and Cubs fan. His favorite hobbies were family gatherings, especially enjoying his grandchildren. He loved playing sheepshead, bowling, and golfing. His favorite Packer was Willie Davis who took time to call him in his time of illness. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years Loretta of Fond du Lac, his loving children, Jennifer (Donald J.) Uelmen of Eden, Dennis (Lois) of Lomira, Michael (Mary) of Fond du Lac, Maureen (James) Becker of Fond du Lac, Geriann (Thomas) Fox of Fond du Lac, Mary (Larry) Reske of Grafton, and Colleen (Todd) Priest of Lomira, his loving grandchildren, Brad (Michelle) Uelman of Oak Creek, Ben (Mandy) Uelmen of Campbellsport, Kelly (special friend Matt) of Des Moines, IA, Eric (Erin) Kuechler of Kewaskum, Amy Kuechler of Schaumberg, IL, Andrew Kuechler of Fargo, ND, Christopher (Terri) Kuechler of Madison, Kimberly and Nicholas Kuechler of Fond du Lac, Nicole Fox of Fond du Lac, Daniel, Abby, and Mitchell Priest of Lomira, and Margaret and Nathan Reske of Grafton, five great-grandchildren, brother, Ralph (Eleanor) of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his daughter Beverly in 1972, his parents, and his little angel granddaughters, Michelle Rose Fox in 1995 and Mary Lee Reske in 1997.



VISITATION: Friday, September 14, 2007 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI. FUNERAL: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira with the Reverend Dennis Budka officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
