James E. La Pine

James E. La Pine Sr, age 91, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Walnut Grove House, Fond du Lac. He was born on October 30, 1920 in Fond du Lac, the son of Harry and Ethel (Bott) La Pine. Jim served in the United States Army during World War II stationed in Panama. On February 14, 1948 he married Sally Zimmerman at the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. He worked at Damrow for thirty-five years. Jim enjoyed hunting with his sons, traveling, playing sheepshead, and going to the casino with Sally and playing bingo.SURVIVORS: his wife Sally of Fond du Lac, three children, James (Jean) La Pine Jr. of Fond du Lac, Kathy (Mike) Bozich of Lamartine, Mary (Jeff) Maruska of Fond du Lac, eight grandchildren, April (Joe) Peissig of Two Rivers, Shelly (fiancé Tom Thompson) Bozich of Fond du Lac, Cassie Bozich of Lamartine, Will Lacharite of Fond du Lac, John Dettloff of Fond du Lac, Nikki La Pine, Adam La Pine, and Jacob La Pine, multiple great-grandchildren, his sisters, Betty Kohnke of Fond du Lac, Alice Palkovich of Fond du Lac, Audrey Prink of Fond du Lac, June Burns of Fond du Lac, and Gertrude (Stuart) Blau of Fond du Lac, one brother, Ben (Patricia) La Pine of Fond du Lac, brother in law, Donald (Gloria) Zimmerman of Pickett, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel Walter La Pine, and two brothers, Leonard, and George.
