James K. Rashid

James K. RashidJames K. Rashid, 76, of 491 Austin Lane, Fond du Lac, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at the Hospice Home of Hope after a short illness with cancer. He was born in Fond du Lac on February 7, 1928, to Edward and Freda Hall Rashid. Jim graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1946 and married the former Margaret Gindt on August 25, 1951 at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. He was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church. Mr. Rashid was formerly employed by Canvas Products and Medalist Industries, and later Advertisers Manufactuers Corporation of Ripon as a purchasing agent. Most recently he drove the courtesy shuttle for Holiday Automotive and Holiday Dodge, and was a driver for Nichols Bus during EAA, and was employed by Anders Auto Parts. An accomplished clarinet player and life-long fan of Dixieland-Style Jazz, Mr. Rashid was a member of The Kings of Dixie Jazz Band that played at numerous Fond du Lac area music establishments for over 35 years. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Tuesday Morning Senior League at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. In addition to his other interests, Jim took up woodworking after his retirement.Surviving is his wife, Margaret, two daughters, Jean (Patrick) Smith of Fond du Lac and Kathy (Gerard) Herro of Eagan, MN, three sons, Michael (Hollie Stanke) Rashid of Colgate, WI, James (Linda Glaser) Rashid of Huntersville, NC, and Thomas (Patrice Breitbach) Rashid of Sussex, WI, eleven grandchildren, David and Caroline Rashid, Thomas Glaser, Ryan and Christopher Smith, Nicholas, Catherine, and Madeline Rashid, and Kevin, Matthew, and Zachary Herro. He is further survived by two brothers, Jed (Joan) Rashid and Joe (Pat) Rashid, and a sister, Marge Kuether, all of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Irene Rashid Lay of Ripon, and Katherine (Bernard) Halbur of Fond du Lac, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. His parents, two brothers, Robert and Floyd, and two sisters, Katherine Scholl and Elizabeth "Betty" Bushee preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. James K. Rashid will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 18, 2004, at 9:30 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Kevin Wester will officiate and entombment will be in Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hospice Home of Hope or Holy Family Catholic Community Building With Living Stones Fund.
