James R. Lemke, age 77, of North Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 25, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on September 1, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the son of Orvin and Lucille (Freund) Lemke. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Goodrich High School. On March 1, 1969, he married Claire Radtke in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2013. Jim worked from age 18 until his retirement at Giddings and Lewis. He participated in many clubs including the Geological Society, Studebaker Drivers Club, Izaak Walton Leage of America, and the Oldsters Club of G&L. Jim loved anything involving history and enjoyed exploring cemeteries, airplanes, and going to car shows and museums.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Barber and Molly (Jeff) Resop; six grandchildren, James and Alyssa Barber, David Jorgensen, Sara Sabel, Krystin and Kaytlin Resop; great-grandchildren, Landon, Payden, Carter, Paisley, and Grayson; his siblings, Tom (Terry) Lemke, Carol Lemke, Dan (Debbie) Lemke; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lemke; son-in-law, James Barber; family friend, Chuckie DeWitt; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was met at Heavens Gate by his parents; his wife; two brothers, David Lemke and Robert Lemke; sister-in-law, Kathy Lemke; great grandsons, Liam and Levi.
A Celebration of Life for Jim will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
