James J. Mengel

James J. Mengel, 71, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Agnes Hospital.   He was born February 4, 1953 in Fond du Lac, the son of Rudolph and Patsy (Parker) Mengel.  Jim graduated from Horace Mann High School, Class of 1971.   On June 15, 1985 he married Joanne M. Ehrke at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac.

Jim owned and operated Mengel’s Asphalt LLC until his retirement in 2018.  He was a member of Westshore Fishing Club and Van Dyne Sportsman Club where he sponsored a trap team for several years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved taking his dog, JJ for rides in the truck.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; their dog, JJ; two siblings, Susan Titel and Jo (David) Stanley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Jeffrey Mengel and Karen (Jeff) Kaftganski.

At James’ request there will be no visitation or funeral service, cremation has taken place.
