James P. WendtJames P. Wendt, 58, of 95 N. Lincoln Avenue, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer. He was born March 6, 1947, in Jefferson, WI, the son of James F. and Fern P. Tate Wendt. On March 9, 1967, he married Carol A. Pentecost of Glencoe, AL. He moved to Fond du Lac as a toddler and has resided here every since. James was a 1965 graduate of Goodrich High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War serving from May 28, 1966 to February 27, 1970. Jim was employed by the City of Fond du Lac as a heavy equipment operator for 32 years, retiring in May of 2002. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and the Oakfield Conservation Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed spending time on his land in Neshkoro.Surviving are his wife, Carol, a son, Shane (Susan) Wendt of New Berlin, WI, a daughter, Carla (David) Velasco of Fond du Lac, six grandchildren, Mitchell, Taylor, and Jack Wendt, and Bryce, Brady, and Tate Velasco. He is further survived by two sisters, Linda (Dick) Warner of North Fond du Lac, and Carol (Brian) Beltz of Fond du Lac, a sister-in-law, Rose Wendt of Fond du Lac, his mother-in-law, Inez Partlow, of Glencoe, AL, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Also surviving is his best friend and companion, Maggie, his Black Labrador. His parents and a brother, Gary, preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. James P. Wendt will be on Sunday, June 5, 2005, from 3 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 6, 2005, at 10:30 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Martin Koehler will officiate and entombment will be in the Garden of Valor, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to Agnesian Hospice.
