James R. Deschaine

James R. Deschaine, age 75, died Monday, January 20, 2014. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Marinette, WI, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Jorgenson) Deschaine. Jim served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was a 1955 graduate of Marinette High School. On August 15, 1987 Jim married Janet Bockas in North Fond du Lac.Jim was a semi-truck driver all of his life. He owned and operated JTL Trucking and also worked for numerous trucking firms throughout his career, and continued to drive part-time once he went to work for the United States Postal Service for twenty-seven years. He was a letter carrier in Fond du Lac for over twenty-three years. His final four years he worked as a fill in Postmaster at several post offices until he was appointed Postmaster at Porterfield Post Office where he retired from in January 2001.Jim was active in the North Fond du Lac Businessmen Association and was instrumental with the founding of Pride Day and was very proud of all that Pride Day was able to do for the community, especially the reality of the Community Center and the expansion of the baseball park. He was active in men's softball and loved being a pitcher. He was also active in kids softball and Little League as a coach and umpire.He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed vacationing up by Eagle River a couple times each year. He spent many years hunting with his nephews, Dennis and Chris Whitton. He was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packer fan and never missed a game. Jim also enjoyed bowling and was a very accomplished bowler.SURVIVORS: his wife Janet of Fond du Lac; daughter Angel (Adam) Gilbertson of North Fond du Lac and grandchildren, Damian and Emma; son, Josh Deschaine (Annie Woodley) of Evansville, WI, and grandchildren, Abby, Ava, and Jay; daughter Nichole (Tommy) Maschke of Branson, MO, and granddaughters, Adrian, and Aubree; sister, Betty (Ed) Rollo of Wausuakee; brother, John (Nancy) Deschaine of Oshkosh; sister in law, Sherrie Bockas of Ogden, UT; brothers in law, Norman (Debbie) Bockas of Ogden, UT; and Randy (Tammy) Bockas of Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Chris Whitton.



VISITATION: Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 3-5:30 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI. FUNERAL: Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 5:30 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.
