James Robert Mitchell, age 80, of 164 Chestnut St, Fond du Lac, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at LifeCare Hospitals of Wisconsin in Pewaukee. He was born on September 16, 1934 in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of Sam Johnson and Myrtle Bukovatz. Jim was in the Korean War serving in the United States Army. On October 25, 1975 he married Amy Pfalzgraf-Fincke in Salem, WI. Jim worked for many years in Chicago as a lather-carpenter working on many major projects including the building of Sears (Willis) Tower, the John Hancock Center, and O’Hare International Airport. He loved gambling and fishing.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Amy of Fond du Lac; three daughters, Kim Marie Bell of Kenosha, Sandra June (Dave) Luth of Dyer, IN, and Amy Jo; one son, Edward Mitchell of Tomball, TX; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister in law, Diane (Grant) Silva of Denver, CO; and his dog Peaches. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Nancy; one son Jimmy; two brothers Ray and Sam; one sister Audrey; mother in law and father in law Victor and Hazel Pfalzgraf; sister in law Pauline Parish.
VISITATION: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 3-7 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Church of Peace, 158 S. Military Rd, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Visitation will also take place on Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Estabrooks Cemetery.
