Jane Frances Kraus

Jane Frances (Ditter) Kraus, 93, of Fond du Lac died Friday, December 27, 2024, at Country Villa, Little Chute, WI. Jane was born April 13, 1931. She was the daughter of Alfred and Francis (Kohlman) Ditter. Jane worked as the receptionist at Marian College for 20 years. She worked with faculty, students and anyone who stopped into the college.

Jane married Martin (Marty) Kraus on June 14, 1949. Their ceremony was at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. Jane and Marty became members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Here Jane worked for a short time in the food service for the students. She was an active member of the Alter and Rosary Society until the 1980’s. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening in the summer. She was also an avid knitter and crocheter. Making many items for the family and donating many more to St. Agnes for the newborn children.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Marty, and their son, Michael. She is survived by their daughter, Linda (Richard) Schrage, grandson Travis Schrage; granddaughter Cassidy Evers; great-granddaughter Gwyenith Evers; daughter-in-law, Linda (Thornton) Kraus. Jane was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman; Raymond; George; Leander; and one sister, Mary Grace Stenz. Jane is survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Jane will be remembered at Country Villa as a warm, sassy, spunky, happy lady. She enjoyed making friends and walking through the halls of the residents to say hi. She loved her Monday bingo games and came back with more treats than she could eat. The staff at County Villa gave her a warm “Honors” salute as she left the building. Many with tears in their eyes.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday, January 6, 2025, at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church, beginning at 12:00 PM with interment in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery to follow at 2:15 PM.
