Jane R. Peterson, 98, of Fond du Lac, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at St. Francis Home. She was born on December 20, 1925, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Arthur and Martha (Bastian) Schaub. Jane graduated from Goodrich High School. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Theisen until taking her position at St. Agnes Hospital as a medical records clerk until her retirement in 1993. Jane’s most rewarding job was as a crossing guard for 23 years at Elizabeth Waters School. She loved the interactions with all the students there. Many adults still remember her today as the crossing guard at school. Jane was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish. She would play cards with the same friends weekly for 50 years and still played sheepshead. In her free time, Jane was an avid reader and did word search puzzles.
She is survived by four children, Mary “Candy” (Dan) Bord, Stephen (Karla) Peterson, Barbara (Tom) Thurman, and John (fiancée, Karen Henry) Peterson; nine grandchildren, Becky (Craig) Larson, Michael Bord, Patrick (Christiane) Bord, Kyle (Jeanne) Peterson, Kraig (Kelly) Peterson, Betsy (Drew) Sutherland, T.J. (Sharon) Thurman, Justin (Vicki) Peterson, and Jessica (Chris) Johnson; 14 great grandchildren, Olivia, Abigail, Ian, Skylar, Molly, Maeve, Joella, Emma, Grace, Tommy, Aaron, Rory, Riker, and Rose; brother, David (Deb) Schaub; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Martha; sister, Mary (Robert) Morgan; and nephew, Phillip Schaub.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at church. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jane’s name to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, Women’s Fund or Broken Bread.
