Jane A. Reszka, 90, of North Fond du Lac, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her residence. She was born on December 1, 1934, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Dille) Meyer. On September 1, 1956, she married John Reszka at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in North Fond du Lac. Jane was a very kind and selfless person. For those who knew her she was quite an accomplished crafter. She had such a keen eye for color schemes and the ability to reuse or create something from nothing. So many skills - from her amazing quilts, to sewing and mending clothes, knitting socks, mittens and slippers, card making, painting and the list goes on. “Her hands and mind would never sit still”.
Music was another of Jane’s favorite pastimes. Music filled her body and soul with such joy that she couldn’t even drive and play the radio. She always connected with others through song and singing. Anytime you visited, there was music playing and she was often harmonizing with the tune.
Jane was passionate about practicing kindness and social justice for those in need. Her commitment to progressive political action and love for her town manifested into her 14 years of service as President, Treasurer and Trustee on the Village Board of North Fond du Lac.
Her musical spirit, kindness to others, and humor lives on in her children and grandchildren, many of whom have pursued music and social justice in their lives or careers.
She is survived by four children, Jill (Gary) Kruger, Jay (Carol) Reszka, Judy Reszka and James John Reszka; six grandchildren, Emily (Adam) Deutschmann, Andy Kruger, Cale Reszka, Shay Reszka, Forest Reszka, and Gideon Reszka; three great-grandchildren; Lariah Kruger, Bennett and Maren Deutschmann; four siblings; Judy LaBuwi, Peter (Margaret) Meyer, Mary Riskey, and Kay (Russell) Rae; two sisters-in-law, Sue Meyer and Rosie Mildebrandt; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Frances; husband John; brother Steve Meyer; and two brothers-in-law, Tom LaBuwi and Gerry Riskey.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A Time of Remembrance will follow the visitation at 12:00PM. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will occur at Calvary Cemetery.
Jane was an avid reader and frequent user of the public library. She strongly believed in free access to books for everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family will donate in memory of Jane to the Spillman Library of North Fond du Lac, WI.
