Janet Bockas Deschaine passed away on September 22nd, 2023. She was born in Utah on March 17th, 1951, to Jack and Pat (Tatro) Bockas. Janet met her first husband Scott Schroeder at an Airforce Base in Utah. They moved to Wisconsin where Janet worked at the Department of Health and & Family Services for over 35 years. Janet was married to James Deschaine for 26 years until his death in 2014.
Her special day was St. Patrick’s Day which she celebrated enthusiastically with friends, starting with breakfast, gambling, Irish Pub’s, followed by happy hour at Friar Tucks, enjoying Bacardi and Diet Coke.
Mickey Mouse just lost his greatest fan. If there was a Mickey on it, she probably had it. Janet loved board games and cards, especially crazy cribbage.
Her hobbies included traveling, bowling, winning a city 600 tournament, fantasy football, picking the winning football team each week, making her own greeting cards. Her happy place was cruising on Lake Winnebago on a pontoon with friends or being at her condo in Eagle River.
Janet is survived by her very special friend and care giver, Tracy Schmelzer; her sister, Sherrie and her daughter Katie; her brothers, Norman (Debbie) and his 4 children, Tahnee, Gus, ReAnne, and Forrest, and Randy (Tammy) and their 4 children, Nichole, Brianna, James, and Annie; her half sister, Christine; a very special step-daughter-in-law, Annie and 2 step-daughters, Angel and Nichole. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; step-son, Josh.
As per Janet’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. She was a very caring and generous person, who will be missed by everyone who touched her life.
