Janet E Wermes

Janet E. Wermes, of Fond du Lac, tragically passed away on September 29,2023, as of the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was born on April 23, 1956, the daughter of Kurt and Peggy (Reardon) Hitzemann of Markesan. Janet was married to Steven Wermes on April 25, 1986.

Janet worked at Marian university for the past 20 years. She took pride in her work and was honored to be part of the Marian community. Janet did anything for her family. She often worked 2-3 jobs to provide for them. Janet enjoyed gardening, camping, playing scrabble, reading, and music. She had a beautiful singing voice that she passed down to her daughter, Nora. The two loved to sing together.

She is survived by her daughter, Nora (Adam) Uttech of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Ann (John) Draxler of Neenah and Susan (Jim) Murphy of Markesan; two brothers, Kurt (Barbara) Hitzemann of Springhill, FL and Karl (Carolyn) Hitzemann of Brookfield; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt and Peggy; and husband, Steven.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 3PM – 5 PM at Dorcas Chapel, Marian University, 45 South National Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI. A Celebration of Life will be held following visitation at 5 PM with a time of remembrance for everyone to share stories and experiences with Janet. Burail will occur at Estabrooks Cemetery.

“People may not remember what you do or say, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” A piece of advice given to Janet by her father and instilled into her daughter, Nora. If you knew Janet, the evidence of this advice was abundant. She cared so deeply for friends, family, and coworkers. The hole she leaves in our lives is vast yet, the amount of people influenced by her kindness is more. We love you and you will be missed greatly.
