Janice Marie Duket, of Oshkosh, passed peacefully from this life to join our Lord and Savior on November 17, 2018 at The Waterford of Oshkosh. Janice was born on October 11, 1937 to the late Fredrick and Marie (Salzmann Karst) Trott in Fond du Lac.
On March 2, 1957, she married the love of her life, David L. Duket, at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. David was serving in the US Navy at the time of their marriage. They chose to have Janice stay in Fond du Lac by her family since David was out to sea much of that time. David and Janice immediately started a family once David transitioned from active duty to the reserves. They celebrated 57½ years of marriage before David’s passing in 2015.
Janice was a homemaker while raising her three children and became a working mother when her youngest child started school. She worked as a hostess at Schreiner’s Restaurant until accepting a position as a telephone operator at Mercury Marine. Janice later became a supervisor and held the position of telecommunications manager when she retired in 1998 after 27 years of service.
Following retirement, Janice and her husband made the decision to sell the family home in North Fond du Lac and move to Cedar Springs Lake in Neshkoro. They spent 14 years on the lake and cherished the many friendships gained while residents there. Janice was a member of the Neshkoro Lioness for many years. In 2013, Janice and her husband moved to Oshkosh to be closer to family. Janice and David cherished the 14 years spending winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and the many friends and wonderful memories they made.
Janice enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, reading romance novels, family camping trips, time spent at their cottage, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, traveling, and escaping the cold Wisconsin winters in Arizona. She especially loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Darren (Shera) Duket of Hudson, Lynn (Brian) Koll of Columbus, and Julie (Allan) Zuleger of Winneconne; seven grandchildren, Kayla (John) Martin, Kelli (Ben) Wieker, Nicole (Mike) Gierach, Ashley Koll, Bradley Koll, Morgan Zuleger, and Heather Zuleger; four great grandchildren, Braeden and Piersen Gierach, Adrian and Ariya Martin; two brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Trott and Marc Trott; one sister, Lorraine Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Melonie Rice, Mary Jane Davis, and Emma Prasser; brothers Jacob, Fred, and Herbert Karst; sisters-in-law Helen Scherck, Dorothy Koehn, Alice McDermott, Patricia Goldapske, and Nancy Trott; brothers-in-law Daniel Rice and Oliver Jacobson.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, from 3-5 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, and again on Monday, November 26 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 26, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2580 W.
9th Avenue, Oshkosh, with Rev. Clarence Harms officiating. Burial will take place in Estabrooks Cemetery in Fond
du Lac.
Janice’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Heartland Hospice (Dani, Deb, Christine, and Ann) who offered thoughtful and loving care for their mom, grandma, and great grandma during her final days. A thank you is also extended to the staff at The Waterford for caring for Janice the past three years.
