Jay F. Schmidt

Jay Fredrick Schmidt passed away with his loving family surrounding him on June 15th, 2009, at University Hospital in Madison. Jay was born on January 21, 1936, in Fond du Lac, the son of Fred and Lucille (Porter) Schmidt. He married Susan Towne on September 10, 1955, at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked for Kroger Packaging Plant in Fond du Lac. He was hired by Mercury Marine and was employed by them until he retired in 1999. He also ran his own business, J & D Presto Shine for 25 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, camping, his family, and his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Susan, three daughters; Sherry Brock, Lake Mills, WI, Michelle (Steve) Weber of Oshkosh, and Vicki (John) Urban of Oakfield, two sons; Jeff (Bev) Schmidt of Oakfield, and Jason (Tina) Schmidt of Fond du Lac, sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, LouAnn (William) Moore of Cadiz, KY, a sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Lonn) Zuehls of Markesan, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents, a sister, Janice Priebe, and an infant daughter, Kim Marie Schmidt, preceded him in death.



Visitation for Jay F. Schmidt will be on Friday, June 19, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Saturday, June 20th from 10 to 11 am at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday at the church. Rev. Shari Routh will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
