Jean D. Schwefel

Jean D. Schwefel, 81, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at ManorCare Nursing Home. He was born September 13, 1930 in Brownsville, WI, the son of William and Sylvia Lerch Schwefel. Jean was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving from 1951- 1953 during the Korean War. On March 27, 1954 he married Janet M. Glasser at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. Jean farmed in the Oakfield area until 1972 and then was a salesman for Surge Dairy Equipment until his retirement in 1988. He was a past member of the Lomira VFW. Jean enjoyed playing cards, singing, fishing, woodworking, old cars, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, was always a jokester, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an inventive man and proud of building their log home and spending time by their fishing ponds.SURVIVORS: his wife, Janet; four children, Gary (Carol) Schwefel, Fond du Lac, David (Mylene) Schwefel, Slidell, LA, currently serving in Afghanistan, Sandy (Guy) Werner, Yorktown, VA, Dan (Amy) Schwefel, Campbellsport; ten grandchildren, Thomas (Holly) Schwefel, Tyler (Courtney) Schwefel, Jamie (special friend, Cody Schoepke) Schwefel, Julie (special friend, Mike Philippi) Schwefel, Eric Schwefel, Christine Werner, Carl Werner, Jacob, Jordan, and Jillian Schwefel; three great grandchildren, Kylie, Olivia and Madeline Schwefel. He is further survived by his brother, Jerald (Donna) Schwefel, Brownsville; one sister-in-law, Karen (Dave) Nummedor, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Fredrick and Gertrude Glasser; an infant brother; a brother, Raymond (Barbara) Schwefel; one sister-in-law, Pat Schwefel



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 7 PM on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Berenz officiating. Entombment will be held at Ledgeview Memorial Park.Memorials are appreciated to Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Jean's name.The family extends a special thank you to the staff of St. Agnes Hospital and Manor Care Nursing Home for the care given to Jean.
