Jean Ellen O’Neil White, age 76, of North Fond du Lac went to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 17, 1942, to Arlyn and Lucille (Manzke) O’Neil. Jean graduated from Rosendale High School in 1960 and attended UW-Oshkosh before marrying Rev. Thomas E. White on August 14, 1965, at St. Stephen’s Church in Rogersville, Wisconsin.
During their fifty-three year marriage, she was a homemaker, a dedicated pastor’s wife, and worked for the Baraboo School District as a librarian for nine years. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking and baking, reading, playing cards, walking, and keeping in touch with others. She enjoyed any time she could spend with family and friends. She and Tom enjoyed singing and taking part in the culture of Welsh Hymn singing festivals in Wisconsin and attended a multitude of national festivals across the United States and Canada. She faithfully worshipped, taught Sunday School, worked on committees, sang in choirs, and maintained the libraries in all the churches she and Tom served (Neenah, Beloit/Shopiere, Baraboo, and Sheboygan), and was currently an active member of Community United Methodist Church in North Fond du Lac.
Jean’s legacy lives on through her husband, Thomas and three children, Phillip (Melissa) White of Wisconsin Dells, William (Kimberly) White of Madison, and Rebecca (John) White Perreault of New Berlin; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Kasondra, Leah, Madeline, Avery, and Emery; two sisters, Joanne (Michael) O’Neil Simon and Barbara (Joseph) O’Neil Harrington; brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and innumerable friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, and a nephew.
The memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr Street, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. There will be a time of visitation and support preceding the service from 11:30 - 2:30 PM. A meal will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of foliage, memorials may be designated for Community United Methodist Church of North Fond du Lac or the Peniel Welsh Chapel of rural Oshkosh.
