Jean L. Gerner

Jean L. Gerner, 65, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born in Fond du Lac on July 18, 1951, a daughter of Francis and Frances (Pickart) Schneider. Jean was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs. On September 16, 1972, she married Gary Gerner in Fond du Lac.



Jean’s favorite pastimes included knitting, sewing and gardening. She also loved to read. Jean will be remembered for being a very thoughtful and intentional person. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. Jean was a devoted Catholic all of her life.



Survivors include her husband, Gary; her five children, Shaun (Kerri) of New York City, Kristi (Casey) Valiant of Evansville, Ind. and their children, Ciana and Jovie, Nathan (Laurie) of Sun Prairie and their children, Rhiannon and Gavin, Daniel (Megan) of Fond du Lac and their children, Kennedy, Natalie and Delaney and Matthew (Rachel) of Fayetteville, Ark.; five siblings, Gladys (David) Brown, Joseph (Deb), Barb (Jody Leal) Steinmetz, Edward (Lynn) and Jackie (Thomas) Ohlinger; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth, and one sister-in-law, Janell.



Visitation for Jean will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A memorial mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Ave. in Fond du Lac. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the time of service. Burial of cremains in Calvary Cemetery will follow the services.
