Jerome J. Stoffel, age 89, of 536 E. 1st. St, Fond du Lac, died Monday, September 10, 2007 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on April 21, 1918 in Ashford, WI the son of John P. and Barbara (Welsch) Stoffel. On May 8, 1943 he married Shirley A. Klumpyan at St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport. Jerome and Shirley ran the family farm until moving to Fond du Lac in 1951. Upon arriving in Fond du Lac, Jerome and his father in law built a new home, while Jerome worked two jobs at SooLine Railroad and Quicfreeze to support his family. After leaving Quicfreeze he worked for Fond du Lac Stone. He then went to work at Tecumseh in New Holstein for twenty-six years until retirement. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. He enjoyed horseshoes, sheepshead, scratch offs, and going to Oneida with his wife. Jerome took care of his loving wife for the past two years until her passing on July 21, 2007.SURVIVORS: six children, Gloria (Jim) Twohig of Armstrong, Larry Stoffel of Fond du Lac, Donald (Lori Jane) Stoffel of Fond du Lac, Mike (Pam) Stoffel of Fond du Lac, David (special friend Joy Miller) Stoffel of Fond du Lac, Kay (Dick) Van Der Vaart of Manitowoc, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Leo (Pat) Stoffel of West Bend, one sister, Lucille Steger of Lomira, one brother in law, Matt Klumpyan Jr. of Eden, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, one son, Richard James Stoffel on December 4, 1965, three brothers, Al, Sylvester, and Raymond, two sisters, Lorraine and Marcella, two sisters in laws and their husbands, Rita (Al) Stoffel, and Betty (Wilbur) Albright, and one sister in law, Helen Klumpyan.
VISITATION: Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 3:30 until 6:30 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with prayers being held at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home. FUNERAL: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church with the Reverend officiating. Burial will be held on Friday morning at 11:15 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
