Jerome "Jerry" H. Heider

Jerome “Jerry” H. Heider, 82, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home with his wife and children by his side.  Jerry was born June 28, 1941 to Ruth Thill Rausch and Harry Heider in Oakfield, WI.  Jerry grew up in Lamartine, WI and after graduating from Brandon High School he joined the US Army National Guard and served from 1961 – 1964 and then enlisted in the US Army from 1964 – 1967.

He married Mary Kay MacPhail on August 2, 1968 in Fond du Lac, WI.  Together they had two children, Rebecca and Doug.  Jerry worked at Wells Manufacturing as a punch press operator.  Jerry was a volunteer at the Fond du Lac Gallaway House and Village and enjoyed assistant coaching his son’s baseball team.  He attended all of his son’s baseball and football games and went to his daughter’s music performances and has since been involved in his grandchildren’s activities over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Rebecca (Michael) Frize and Douglas (Lisa) Heider; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jordan, Allison, and Jeason McElroy, Collin Frize, Samuel Forbes, Logan and Landyn Heider, Alexis, Madison, and Mason Sobiech; great granddaughter, Rose Marie McElroy; his brothers, Robert (Marci) Heider, Harold (Liz) Heider, and Kenneth (Linda) Leu; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lucille Heider; and nephew, Tony Heider.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Ledgeview Memorial Park, N6250 County Road K, Fond du Lac.  Military Honors will follow the visitation.  Cremation has taken place.

The family extends a thank you to the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, Tarfa Terrace, and CommonHeart Hospice for their wonderful care over the last four years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
