Joan A. "Joanie" Schmitt

Joan died Friday, September 23, 2011, at Harbor Haven Nursing Home. She was born May 1, 1946, a daughter of Karl and Lucille Kaster Schmitt. Joan graduated from St. Patrick's grade school, and continued her education with the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in Milwaukee. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.Joan worked as a nurse aide and private home companion in her earlier years. She enjoyed attending garage sales, bingo, country music, writing poetry and eating out. She also enjoyed fishing whenever she had the opportunity. Her parakeets 'Mikee', 'Chatty', 'Pretty Bird' and 'Sweetie Pie' were the highlights of her life.Those Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory are two brothers, Jerome (Colleen) Schmitt, of Sugar Grove, Illinois, her twin, John (Janice)Schmitt , and sister Lois (Robert)Pflum, all of Fond du Lac, special nephew Ryan Schmitt, Oshkosh, nephew Phillip, and special friends, Sr. Mary Jo Palma, Oshkosh, Glavin McGalloway, Colleen Smedberg, Jim Dietrich, and Jane Clark, all of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Preceding her in death were her parents, stepfather, maternal and paternal grandparents, her brother Peter,and dear friends Dr.Julita DeGuzman and 'Fritz' Lemke.



Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 on Thursday Sept. 29, 2011 with Funeral services for Joan A. 'Joanie' Schmitt, 65, formerly of 630 West Arrndt Street, at 6:00 pm Thursday, September 29th at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.The Rev. Edward Sippel will officiate.
