Joan C. Mangas

Joan Carol Mangas, age 78, of 146 N. Brooke St, Fond du Lac, died on May 10, 2008 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. She was born on December 22, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Ben Schroeder and Esther Brandt. She graduated from Goodrich High School. On May 19, 1953 she was joined in marriage to James Mangas. For many years, Joan helped out at Washington Elementary and at Chegwin Elementary School in the Title One room and as a Stamp Lady. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where she participated in the Philoptokos Society and choir. Joan's biggest passion was children. Joan opened her heart and home to many children as a caregiver over her lifetime. Those children, along with her children and grandchildren made Joan's life complete. Joan enjoyed playing cards, bingo, cooking, and being with her family and friends.Joan is survived by her husband James of fifty-five years, one son, Peter (Kelly) Mangas, three daughters and their children, Nancy (Jim) Sievert, and their daughter, Nickki Sievert, Patti (Robbin) Eder and their children, Courtney, Ashley (fiancé Ryan Haskett), Zachary Eder, Jennifer Boardman and her children, Katie, Kali, and Austin Boardman, sisters in law, Stella Johnson and Helen Sippel, brothers in law, Tom Wagner and Jerry Thill, eleven nieces and nephews, Godson, Gus Anthonasin and special friend Joyce Athanisiou, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in laws, Peter and Olga Mangas, her sister, Audrey Jacobs, and granddaughter, Lindsay Eder.



VISITATION: Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 198 N. Macy St, Fond du Lac with the Reverend Ted Trifon officiating. Friends may call on Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
