Joan C. Rashid, age 86, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, February 05, 2018, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on March 12, 1931, in Green Bay, and grew up in DePere, the daughter of Milton and Sophie (Zentmeyer) Phimister. On October 6, 1951, she married Edward J. “Jed” Rashid in DePere. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2006.
Joan graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse first at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay and then at St. Agnes Hospital in the maternity ward for over forty-five years until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed crafting, “Crafts by Joan” at craft shows, sewing pillows, table runners, and her favorite thing to make was outfits for her grandkids, like baptismal and Christmas outfits. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and gambling and golfing with her husband. She enjoyed reading and was past president of the Library Board in North Fond du Lac. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Joan enjoyed baking, cooking, and sweets especially chocolate. Most of all Joan loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include two daughters and four sons, Mary (Steven) Oestreich of Fond du Lac, Mark (Crissi) Rashid of Estes Park, CO, Pamela (Tim) Baer of Oshkosh, Richard (Kathy) Rashid of Fond du Lac, Scott (Susan) Rashid of Estes Park, CO, Craig Rashid of Florence, KY; fourteen grandchildren, Jenny (Justin) Olesen, Angie (Michael) Peterson, Kathleen (special friend Kris Kraft) Oestreich, Elizabeth (Grant) Groeschel, Kelly (Will) Becktold, Samantha (significant other Steve Larson) Rashid, Matthew Rashid, Ryan (Kendell) Rashid, Lindsey (Dustin) Tedder, Tyler (Lindsay) Rashid, Aaron (fiancé Brittany Bofenkamp) Rashid, Zachary (significant other Angela David) Rashid, Alice Malloy, and Jack Malloy; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Jerrie Walsh of DePere, WI; sisters in law, Marilyn Hewison of Fond du Lac and Maggie Rashid of Fond du Lac; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Milton; her sister, Jane.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 3-7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow the traditional service and interment will take place at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
