Joan M. Volkman

Joan M. Volkman, 73, of 630 W. Arndt Street, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born July 31, 1934, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Orville and Evelyn Haase Ballwanz. On November 3, 1956, she married Gerald A. Volkman at St. Mary's Church. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2000. Mrs. Volkman was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was formerly employed by St. Agnes Hospital as a surgical aide, and later by Eilertson, Inc. Joan enjoyed reading, attending classic car shows with her husband, spending time with her family, socializing with her friends at Grand Court, and gardening.Surviving are three daughters, Karen (John) Hanna and Lisa Volkman, both of Fond du Lac, and Wendy (Gerald) Raygor of Oshkosh, a son, William (Karen) Volkman of Virginia Beach, VA, seven grandchildren; Brian and Nichole Bentson of Milwaukee, John Jr., Jennifer, and Joshua Hanna of Fond du Lac, and Cody and Cami Raygor of Oshkosh, and a great-grandson to be born in July of 2008. She is further survived by a sister, Ellen (Syd) Smith of Fond du Lac, and an aunt, Bernice "Bunny" Polkow of Fond du Lac. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Harold (Maryann) McLaughlin of St. Louis, MO, two sisters-in-law, Delaine Volkman of Sugar Grove, IL, and Janet Volkman of Oshkosh, Nieces, Nephews, and her long-time best friend, Betty Johnson of Palm Harbor, FL. Her parents, husband, a daughter, Julie, sister, Joyce Anderson, and an uncle, William Polkow preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Joan M. Volkman will be on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 1 to 3 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be announced at a later date with time and location. A memorial has been established in Mrs. Volkman's name. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
