John A. Melville, 78, of North Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born February 10, 1939 in Chippewa Falls, WI, the son of Kenneth and Cecelia Selzener Melville. John graduated from Goodrich High School, Class of 1957 and graduated from Oshkosh Institute of Business with an accounting degree. On April 15, 1961 he married the love of his life, Phyllis J. Lemke, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on July 22, 2015.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, 1st Infantry, and was honorably discharged. John was an accountant with several auto dealerships in the area, most notably, Deising Pontiac and Chevrolet for 30 years. He was an active member of Presentation Church since 1961 where he was secretary of the men’s club, volunteered for many church activities, and put countless hours in serving on the Building and Grounds Committee. He was also a member of the American Legion. He cherished the many relationships he made frequenting restaurants around town. John shared a love with Phyllis that was unmatched and they are now together forever.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie Melville of Minneapolis, MN and Jill (Kim Trameri) Melville of Madison; his brother, Donald (Betty Tershner) Melville of Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; and one brother.
The visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
