John C. "Jack" Toney, 81, of 651 Martin Avenue, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born September 4, 1926, in Fond du Lac, the son of John and Martha Seroogy Toney. John entered the Army in December of 1944, being honorably discharge in November of 1946. While serving in the Army, he met Shirley Phillips. John and Shirley were later married on January 18, 1947, in Northumberland, PA. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #57. After leaving the service, Jack became an apprentice printer. He was later employed as a sales representative by Badger-Freund Printer and Haber Printers. John loved to fish and go dancing. His nickname was "swivel hips", and he will be deeply missed.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley "Blanch", a daughter, Carol Rickli of Fond du Lac, a son, John "Nick" Toney of Reno, NV, his grandchildren; Rodney P. (Traci) Rickli of Hampton, VA, Lori Anderson of Fond du Lac, and William Toney of Reno, NV, and his special great-granddaughter, Kayla Anderson of Fond du Lac, who truly loved him and will miss him. His parents,John and Martha, brothers Emil, Salem, Raymond, and Earl Toney, and sisters Jeanette DeRusha and Effie Toney preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. John C. "Jack" Toney will be on Tuesday, May 27, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. Barbara Carmichael will officiate and burial will be in the Veterans Garden of Honor in Ledgeview Memorial Park.
