John D. Michalowske

John D. Michalowske, age 83, of Fond du Lac, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on May 10, 1927, the son of Andrew and Blanche (Zaporowski) Michalowske.On May 11, 1957 he married Carlene Goron at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac. John graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School. He served in the United States Army in the Philippines at the end of World War II. He also served with the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. He had lifetime memberships in the 32nd Division Veteran's Association, Fort (Camp) McCoy, 32nd Division Old Timer's, and the Fond du Lac Red Arrow Club. John retired from the service after twenty-three years as a Master Sergeant.He was employed at Mercury Marine for thirty years, eighteen of those years as supervisor. After retiring from Merc, he was employed by the Sisters of St. Agnes for ten years. John was a member of Holy Family Parish.SURVIVORS: his wife Carlene of Fond du Lac, son, Brian (Christine) Michalowske of Glenbeulah, daughters, Pam (Donald) Braatz of Howards Grove, Angela (Dale) Knutson of Appleton, Karla (Michael) Cox of Isanti, MN, Nichola Michalowske of Maple Grove, MN, eleven grandchildren, Amanda Flores, Donald Braatz Jr, Andrea Braatz, Stephanie Knutson, Brett Knutson, Kayla Michalowske, Hunter Michalowske, Justine Cox, Jacob Cox, Nathan Cox, Allison Jaskulske, three great-grandchildren, Johnny, Kathryn, and Joseph, two step-great-grandchildren, AJ and Michael Flores, two sisters, Mary Zajac and Helen Toth. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jerry, Frank, and Joseph, one sister, Clara Beaudreau and her husband Theodore.



VISITATION: Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 12:30-2:30 P.M. at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. FUNERAL: Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum with Deacon Larry Hughes officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 Firing Squad will conduct military graveside honors.
