John J. Dux

John J. Dux, 77, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Francis Home. He was born November 23, 1947 in Fond du Lac, the son of John Sr and Patricia (Adamonie) Dux. He graduated from St. Mary Springs High School Class of 1965. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Wisconsin Madison. On September 7, 1968 he married Noreen P. Schraufnagel, his favorite dancing partner at St. John the Baptist in Woodhull. 

While attending college he worked on the railroad alongside his father, forming a bond through their shared dedication. After graduating college he began working for the City of Fond du Lac Water Treatment Plant, where he contributed to vital community infrastructure. He later went into business with his brothers, forming Dux Brothers Excavating. He also owned and operated Al’s Truck Repair and later formed Dux LLC and Duxie Auto Salvage with his sons. John loved working alongside his family, growing and selling pumpkins, going to the “cottage”, socializing with friends and family, and was also known as the Dungin Master.

He is survived by his wife, Noreen; three children, Naedeen (Jason) Dux-Bodemer of Waukegan, IL, Jay (Lynn Hoepfner) Dux of Fond du Lac and their children, Jenna, Allison, and Joshua, and Justin (Cathy Kramer) Dux of Fond du Lac and their children, Elizabeth and Emily; his sister-in-law, Shirley Dux and her sons, Jason and James; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Norbert and Margaret Schraufnagel; and two brothers, Joseph Dux and Jerry Dux.

The visitation will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at church on Saturday. Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of your choice in John’s name.
