John E. Boettcher

November 12, 1933 — December 26, 2017

John E. Boettcher, 84 of Fond du Lac, was called home to his eternal resting place on Dec. 26th, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born in Fond du Lac, WI on November 12, 1933, the son of Lawrence and Olive (Petit) Boettcher. On May 28, 1960, he married Karen P. Flentje at St. Louis Church where they were lifelong members. During their fifty-seven years of marriage, they enjoyed raising their children, Anne and Peter, watching Jalen (10) and Jornik (5) their two grandchildren grow, working in the garden, raising dachshunds and beagles, fishing, archery golfing, camping, playing cards (especially cribbage and sheepshead), going out for Friday night fish frys and watching all types of sports on television. John also enjoyed hunting (deer, pheasant, rabbit) and just being outdoors. He was an avid conservationist, serving as the state treasurer of the Izaak Walton League for many years. He loved singing and was active in various church choirs throughout his life.



John graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1952 and served in Korea. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and then for the majority of his life for the City of Fond du Lac. He was proud to help decorate Lakeside Park every Christmas. After retiring from the City he worked at Petrie’s Restaurant and then Holiday Automotive.



John was preceded in death by siblings Marion (Ken) Barker, L. Hugh Boettcher and Joan (Paul) Klebs and also nephew Courtney J Boettcher. He is survived by his wife, Karen, children Anne (Mary) and Peter (Christine), grandchildren Jalen and Jornik, his sister, Theresa (Ron) Hendricks and numerous nieces and nephews.



Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Holy Family Parish, 200 S. Peters Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935 from 9:00-11:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope
