John E. Graf

John E. Graf, 86, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born in Fond du Lac on August 13, 1929, a son of Roland and Gertrude (Yasick) Graf. On March 6, 1948, he married Barbara A. Crego at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1999.



After 42 years, John retired from Rueping Leather in 1985. He was a hard worker and will always be remembered as one who loved what he did. During retirement, he worked at Salem United Methodist Church. John and Barbara built a family cottage in Omro, Wis., where their family made many memories. He enjoyed family get-togethers and was also a history buff.



He is survived by his 5 children; Linda Graf of Fond du Lac, Dennis (Julie) of Fitchburg, Mass., Richard (Julie) of Eureka, Wis., Teresa Schmitz of Fond du Lac and Lori (Scott) Koteras of New Auburn, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Leroy) Jantner of Omro. John was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, Robert (Georgene); and his wife’s parents, Jay (Myrtle) Crego.



A visitation for John will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Mary Council-Austin officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Rushford Cemetery in Omro at a later date.
