John F. Kulow, 82, of North Fond du Lac, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born in Fond du Lac on April 29, 1941, to Theodore and Bernice (Schussler) Kulow. Following graduation, John served four years in the United States Marine Corps and on September 28, 1963, married Elizabeth Nelson at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac.
John was a long-time volunteer firefighter, ambulance driver, and EMT with the Village of North Fond du Lac Fire Department. He was also captain of the department for several years. John was also a co-owner of Village Beverage Mart and Village Pub. Both he and Elizabeth were long-time members of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in North Fond du Lac. John spent most of his career with the railroad, retiring from the Canadian National Railway (CN) as a mechanical supervisor.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandkids ballgames, and attending old car shows.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Jackie (Scott) Baccus, Tammy Kulow, and Julie (Pete) Punzel; four grandchildren, Tim Baccus, Mike (Jenny) Baccus, Nick Punzel, and Ben Punzel (Evian Ortiz); and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Ethan Baccus. He is further survived by three sisters, Peggy, Cathi, and Joann (Tom); and a brother, David.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barb; and three brothers, Bill, Dick, and Ken.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 705 Michigan Ave., North Fond du Lac, 54937. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, beginning at 12:30 PM. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors will follow the Mass.
