John R. “Mac” McIntosh, 73, of Malone, died on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at his residence with family by his side. He was born on June 30, 1948, in Fond du Lac, the son of Robert and Anna Marie (Holzman) McIntosh. John served in the U.S. Army from 1968 – 1969 during the Vietnam War and was a member of 25th Division, 1st Wolfhounds. He received two purple hearts, but never received a good conduct medal. On August 29, 1998, he married Esther Schmitz at the Church of Peace, Fond du Lac. John was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was also a lifetime member of Forest Sportsman Club, Eagles Angler’s Club, and the Eagles Club. John ran the Annual Father’s Day Kids Fish Outing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and feeding the birds in his yard. John was very patriotic, and his greatest love was for his country and flag.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; son, Eric McIntosh; brother, William McIntosh; two brothers-in-law, Ron and Mike (Andrea) Schmitz; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Steinke and Rose (Don) Winke; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Marie; sister, Susan McIntosh; brother-in-law, Dave Steinke; sister-in-law, Karon Schmitz; and his dog, “Oops” who was his 2nd best friend.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Memorial Service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 6:00 PM. Inurnment will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
