John Reiland

John L. Reiland, 80, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born May 12, 1930, in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Leonard and Ada Dalton Reiland. On August 12, 1961, he married Myrna Lamb at St. Patrick's Church in Fond du Lac. He started his career at the Milwaukee Journal and later was employed by The Fond du Lac Reporter for over 35 years in the composing room. After his retirement, he worked at Rolling Meadows Golf Course and belonged to various leagues, including the Senior League, of which he was secretary. He was also employed by the Knights of Columbus as a bartender for over 10 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. John was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Military Police in Berlin Germany. John attended all of the activities that his children and grandchildren were involved in. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and always had a joke to share. He was loved by all that knew him. Surviving is his wife, Myrna, two daughters, Mary Beth (Richard) Salvo of Cary, IL, and Kathleen (Trent) Bergman of Fond du Lac, a son John (Jenny) Reiland of Oshkosh, and six grandchildren, Bryana, Brandon, Bailey, Lexy-Ann, Spencer John, and Flyn. His parents preceded him in death.



Visitation for John L. Reiland will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, from 3 to 5 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 232 S. Peters Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5 on Tuesday at the church. Reverend Luke Strand will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established in John's name.
