Joseph P. Gappa, 74, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born at Ft. Benning, GA on July 11, 1950, to Casimer and Nancy (King) Gappa. Joseph graduated from Regis High School and then served in the US Army from 1969 – 1972. On July 7, 1973, he married Linda Potter in Eau Claire. They relocated to Fond du Lac where he worked at Flaherty Welding for 31 years followed by retiring from Helgerson Industries after 13 years. He took pride in everything he did, cherished and loved his family more than anything. He loved playing baseball with the grandkids and being a grandpa and great grandpa was a highlight to talk about to everyone that would listen. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and doing crossword puzzles. He dedicated 35 years to the Gratitude Club in FDL, where he was known by all.
Survived by his loving wife Linda, two daughters; Beth (Matt) Adelmeyer and Karyn (Carey) Slater, grandchildren; AJ (Jordan) Eldredge, Sinjin Slater (Hannah Gresser), Kennedy Slater and Callaway Adelmeyer, great granddaughter; Elouise Slater, brother; Robert (Mike) Gappa, aunt in-law; Sandy Everson, sister-in-law; Kay (David) Pearson and a few nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, brother; Steven Gappa, brothers-in-law; Mike Potter and Steve Potter, sister-in-law; Sara Klebig and many close friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday, August 19, 2024, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
The family extends a thank you to the staff at St. Agnes Hospital and Dr. Jones and SSM Health Cancer Care of FDL.
