Joseph M. "Joe" Shafer

Joseph M. "Joe" Shafer, 54, of Rosendale, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at his residence. He was born October 16, 1958, in Fond du Lac, the son of Sidney W. and Margaret Snider Shafer. On April 23, 1988, he married Lynn M. Kedinger at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale. Joseph was a 1976 graduate of Rosendale High School. From 1976 to 1980, he proudly served with the US Air Force in Korea. He worked at various jobs in the Fond du Lac area, and most recently was employed as a medical transporter for veterans. Joseph was an avid fan of the Packers and Wisconsin sports, had a fun-loving contagious laugh, loved watching games with family and friends, and most importantly, will be missed by all.Joe leaves behind a loving wife, Lynn of Rosendale, two daughters, Kristi Shafer and her friend, Travis, of North Fond du Lac, and Kari Shafer, of Rosendale, his mother, Margaret Shafer, of Fond du Lac, three brothers, Sidney (Judy) Shafer of Tampa, FL, Paul (Diane) Shafer of Amery, WI, and Allan (Joan) Shafer of Fond du Lac, and a sister, Ann (James) Perkins of Rosendale. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Judy (Ray) Ballwanz of Omro, his father-in-law, Darvin (Carol) Kedinger of Dent, MN, a brother-in-law, Dan (Shari) Kedinger of Fond du Lac, three step-brothers-in-law, Ed Ballwanz of Princeton, Rick Ballwanz of Waukesha, and Todd (Mae) Strehlow of Rosendale, two step-sisters-in-law, Jane (Bill) Kolberg of Ripon, and LuAnn (Jeff) Packer of Ripon, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.



Visitation for Joseph M. "Joe" Shafer will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Kimberly Stowell will officiate. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joseph's name at the Rosendale State Bank.
