Joseph P. Rashid, 89 of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born September 1, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the son of Edeeb and Freda Hall Rashid. In 1988 he married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Boelke in Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2009. He was a machinist for Kiekhafer, Mercury Marine, and Giddings and Lewis, retiring in 1987. Joseph was an avid golfer, belonged to many bowling teams, loved the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He enjoyed riding through Lakeside Park and a cocktail at 7:00 PM while watching Dean Martin videos.
He is survived by six children, Deborah (Bob) Toth, Fond du Lac, Joseph Rashid, Jr., Fond du Lac, Christine (Dave) Riederer, Fond du Lac, John Rashid, Duluth, MN, Jeff (Kerrie) Rashid, Lodi, and Gene ( Teri) Rashid, Rochester, MN; his former wife, Marilyn Hewison, Fond du Lac; 22 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat; seven siblings, Robert, Katheryn, Marge, Floyd, Betty, Jim, and Jed.
The visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Agnesian Hospice and Hospice Home of Hope for the care and compassion given to Joseph and his family.
Memorials are appreciated to Agnesian Hospice in Joseph’s name.
Dad always told us that he walked up hill both ways to and from school, barefoot through the snow and he was happy to do so because he could go to school.
