Joseph W. Francis, 70, of W4997 Jon Ray Drive, Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1937 the son of Joseph and Edna Francis. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958 serving in the Korean War as Airman Second Class. On June 30, 1962 he married Rose Mary Schmitt at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eldorado, WI. He was previously employed with Woodruff Roofing, Speed Queen and Green Giant. Since 1970 to present he worked for Fond du Lac County, including Rolling Meadows Nursing Home and Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Joseph enjoyed harness horse racing, hunting, fishing, woodworking, golfing and most of all spending time with his family.SURVIVORS: his wife of 45 years, Rose Mary; one daughter, Jean (Jim) Marcoe, Eldorado, WI; three sons, Dean (Jeanne) Francis, Fond du Lac, WI, Jeff (Tina) Francis, Tomah, WI, Scot (Carol) Francis, Fond du Lac, WI; eight grandchildren, Erin Marcoe, Tori Marcoe, Ashley Francis, Brianna Francis, Maren Francis, Tucker Francis, Alexandria Francis, Jessica Francis; one sister, Mary Peterson; four brothers, Dick Francis, Tom Francis, Harry Francis, Norm (Julie) Francis; two brother-in-laws, Richard (Janet) Schmitt, Bernard Schmitt; and one sister-in-law, Connie Forester, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents; his mother and father-in-law, Louis and Iva Schmitt; one sister, Nancy Miller; three sister-in-laws, Martha Francis, Mary Schmitt, Margaret Schmitt and one brother-in-law, Jerome Forester, preceded him in death.



VISITATION: Friends may call on Saturday, January 19, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Patrick Heppe officiating. Entombment will be held at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. At Joseph's request the casket will be closed. Trier Puddy Post #75 will conduct military graveside services.In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to Aurora Hospice.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
