Josephine M. "Jo" Barbeau, 88, formerly of 42 N. St. Joseph Lane, and currently a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home, died at her residence on Monday, June 2, 2008. She was born July 18, 1919, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Peter and Julia Gerhartz Goeser. On August 26, 1939, she married Donald G. Barbeau. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2003. Mrs. Barbeau was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was formerly employed as a sales clerk at Merwins Apparel for 26 years, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and other close friends. One of her biggest joys of all was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.Surviving is a son, Thomas (Sally) Barbeau of Fond du Lac, two grandsons, Jeff (Lori) Barbeau of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Jody Barbeau of Milwaukee, a granddaughter, Jill (Richard) Lambert of Fond du Lac, five great-grandchildren, Alena, Jack, Zachary, Erin, and Zoe, three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Joe Goeser of Oshkosh, three sisters, Frances Manis of Chicago, Delores (Darwin) McNinch of Oshkosh, and Joan (Paul) Hansen, and other relatives and friends. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Josephine M. "Jo" Barbeau will be on Friday, June 6, 2008, from 9:30 to 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, 232 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac with the Rev. James Jaeger officiating. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Friday at the church. Entombment will be in the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
