Joyce A. Blare, age 76, of Fond du Lac, peacefully entered God’s home at her residence on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was born on February 1, 1938 in Cook County, Illinois, a daughter to Jim and Mary (Kasuboski) Blare. Joyce graduated from St. Mary’s Springs in 1956. She was formerly married to Richard Cardinal on August 24, 1957 at Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac.
From 1970-1974, Joyce worked as a CNA at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, becoming an LPN in 1974 and continuing at St. Agnes until 1980. In April of 1980, she and her former husband started Cardinal Construction Company, Inc. where she was Secretary/Treasurer until 1986. Joyce returned to nursing in 1990, where she dedicated her life to caring for the elderly and Alzheimer’s patients at nursing homes and Lakeview Assisted Living until her retirement in August of 2004.
Surviving Joyce are her four children; Mark (Carol) Cardinal, Deb (Neil) Olsen, Kurt Cardinal, and Todd (girlfriend Jenni Haak) Cardinal, eight grandchildren; Christopher, Caitlyn, Cody, Michael, Kristopher, Britney, Matti and Mitchell. Also surviving is her brother Jim (Yvonne) Blare, a niece, Kristin and dear friends John & Sandra Kartheiser and Godson, John “Johnny” Kartheiser. She was preceded in death by her parents.
FUNERAL INFORMATION
A visitation for Joyce will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 51 W. Division St. in Fond du Lac. A Mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. with the Very Reverend Brian Beno presiding. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce desired that memorial contributions be made to the Cathedral of St. Paul.
