Joyce A. Kumbier

Joyce A. Kumbier, 85, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on August 2, 1937, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Howard and Myrtle (Strehmel) Gilbert. Joyce graduated from Lomira High School in 1955 and then the Fond du Lac Vocational School in 1958 where she earned her nursing degree. She worked at St. Agnes Hospital and in home health care as a caregiver for 25 years before retiring in 1997. On February 9, 1963, she married Neil Kumbier at United Lutheran Church in Lomira and is a current member at Immanuel Trinity Church, Fond du Lac. Joyce liked going to Arizonia, playing with her granddaughters, gambling, working in the yard and most importantly, her family.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Shelley) and Steven (Jenny) Kumbier; five granddaughters, MacKenzie, Sydney, Emma, Maisie, and Millie; two brothers, Howard (Jeanne) Gilbert of Lomira and Gordon (Kathy) Gilbert of Stockbridge, GA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Myrtle; and her husband, Neil.

Private family services will occur on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with burial to follow at Estabrooks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joyce’s name to the family for a memorial to be setup at a later date.
