Joyce J. Gerred, 87, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born November 12, 1924 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Maurice and Anjulette Bott Wiesen. On September 22, 1945 she married F. Michael Gerred at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. Joyce worked for Roberts Elementary School as an instructional aide and later as secretary of the Fond du Lac Recreation Department, retiring in 1993. Joyce was a member of Holy Family Parish, Apple Sisters Card Club, Taylor Park University, and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.SURVIVORS: her husband, F. Michael Gerred; her children, Michael Gerred, Patricia Harvey, Therese (James) Manthey, Daniel (Erin) Gerred, all of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Meaghan (Mike) Swanson, Janis (Lucas) Birschbach, Jolene (Fiancé, Brad Emmer) Manthey, Colleen (Adam Diederich) Harvey, Keenan Gerred, Shea-Lynn Gerred; two great grandchildren, Lillian and Tanner Birschbach. She is further survived by one sister, Shirley Henslin, Fond du Lac; one brother, William Wiesen, Fond du Lac; two special friends, Liz Raube and Glenna Behlke, both of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Donald; one sister, Audrey Gross; one sister-in-law, Dolores Wiesen; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Gross and Darrell Henslin; and a niece, Pamela Wiesen.



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 8 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10 "“ 11 AM at the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish. Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.Memorials are appreciated to the National Parkinson Foundation in Joyce's name.The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the care and compassion given to Joyce and her family.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
