Joyce L. Asmus, age 87, has left this earth surrounded by her loving family and passed on January 1, 2013. She was born on July 16, 1925, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Frederick W. and Receda (Johnson) Scheibach. Joyce was a lifelong Fond du Lac resident, graduating from Fond du Lac High School. On September 19, 1943, she married Norman G. Asmus at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. They met in 1942 at the local ice skating rink on Follett Street where her first words to him were "Will you please tie my ice skates?" and he replied "Yes, I will." and she knew right there that he was the one. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1970. Joyce worked for many years as a bookkeeper and receptionist at the Fond du Lac YMCA and later worked for over ten years at the Fond du Lac Public Library as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She loved crocheting, especially making Afghans for her family and created with love many, many plastic canvas projects for her family and friends. Joyce was an avid bowler and secretary for her bowling league, loved playing cards and Yahtzee, going out to dinner with her family, family trips, celebrating her birthday at Roy & Patti's lake house with her family, Christmas with her family especially the past 20+ years at the Woodfield Suites and now the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Appleton, and dog sitting her four-legged grandchildren. SURVIVORS: six children, David (Peggy) Asmus of Fond du Lac, Jeffery (Barbara) Asmus of Fond du Lac, Diana (Kenneth "“ "Butch/Boots") Rost of Fond du Lac, Roy (Patti) Asmus of Pickett, Carol (Richard) Brauer of Fremont, Donald (Mary Jo) Asmus of Neenah, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lee N. Asmus, two brothers, Bernard and Fritz, one sister, Beverly, one step sister and her husband, Esther and Count Margraff.

Her family would like to express thanks to Paula and Dave, Pastor Shari and Pastor David at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, the staff at Generations Home Care & Hospice, Fond du Lac, and Dr. Michael Jones and his staff at Agnesian Cancer Center, Fond du Lac.
