Julia "Maisie" M. Rhode

Julia “Maisie” M. Rhode, 86, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024 at The Manor in Fond du Lac after a brief bout with dementia.  She was born September 21, 1937 to William and Julia Fitzjohn in London, England. She was raised in North Hampton, England and moved to the United States in 1955.

Maisie had various jobs throughout her life, Belle Reynolds School in Oakfield as a custodian, Yonkers Department Store, C.W. Smith Jewelers, Krail Jewelers, Dr. Trepanier’s office, Dr. Yuhas office, Andrews De Martino Wealth, and most recently at her daughter’s shop, Barber Ann’s as a receptionist in Beaver Dam, until her retirement.  She was an active member of TBPA (Transatlantic Bride & Parents Association) and English Club until covid.  Maisie was an avid gardener and loved watching her grandkids grow up.

She is survived by two children, Steven (Wendy) Rhode of Fond du Lac and Ann (Jeff) Kulka of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Karla Gelhar, Eric Rhode, Michael (Rosalinda) Rhode, Nichole (Tom) Roedl, Jenna (David) Ross, Kathy Kulka, and Sara (Nick) Weller; great grandchildren, Kayla (Brett) Shady, Troy (fiancée, Mackenzie Rabe) Gelhar, Emilia and Oliver Rhode, Cullen and Declan Odegard, and Ashton Weller; great great granddaughter, Lynden Rose Shady; her siblings, Maureen Bampkin and William (Theresa) Fitzjohn; brother-in-law, Roy Walton; and many nephews and other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents; great grandson, Bryce Gelhar; sisters, Irene Linnel, Sheila Foti, and Bette Walton; brothers-in-law, Jack Linnel and Colin Bampkin.

The visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.  The memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Julia’s name.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Manor for their kindness and excellent care shown to our “Mum” during her stay.
