Surrounded by her family that cherished her so much, it is with great sadness that the family of Katherine “Kay” Holz announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma after a brief illness on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 68. She was born September 13, 1949 in Waupun, the daughter of Herman “Dutch” and Florence “Flossy” Seyfert. On July 8, 1967 she married James “Jim” Holz at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Oakfield and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Kay worked as an administrative assistant at Oakfield High School for over 37 years; the term secretary doesn’t quite cover what Kay did. She was first and foremost a very compassionate, friendly, and loyal resource for all who walked through the high school doors. She was loved by all who came in contact with her and she touched many children’s lives over the years. Kay enjoyed flowers, cardinals, anything and everything Victorian, baking and cooking, spending time with her family and especially participating in her grandchildren’s activities. Her favorite pastime was traveling the state playing bingo with her husband.
She will be lovingly remembered by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Jim; two sons, Tim “Bubba” (Lisa) Holz and Terry (Trisha) Holz all of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Joshua (Nichole) Holz, Nicole (Bobby) Hall, Ashley Holz, and Justin Holz; one great granddaughter, Rylee Holz and two more precious babies due in August; one sister, Susan (Roger) Seyfert-Goodwin of Madison; one brother, Larry “Dellar” (Bobbie) Seyfert of South Byron. She is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake Kandler of New Holstein, Roger (Noreen) Holz of Fond du Lac; Karen (Ron) Collien of Oakfield, and Judy Holz of Oakfield; her cats, Snickers and Tinker; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Edward “Eddie” Seyfert; father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Hermina Holz; two sisters, Sandy Kandler and Judy Westphal; brother, Gerald “Josh” Seyfert; and brother-in-law, Dave Holz.
The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the church.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Community Church, N6717 Streblow Drive, Fond du Lac. Burial will follow in Avoca Cemetery in Oakfield.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Froedtert Hospital for the amazing care and compassion given to Kay and her family.
