Katherine Progar, 98, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and dear friend, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011, at St. Agnes hospital with her daughter by her side. She was the daughter of Agnes and Marcel Dutkoviec Blazich of Sheboygan. Katherine was born on April 11, 1913 and was a longtime resident of Sheboygan. She moved to Fond du Lac in 2004 to be by her daughter and family. Katherine married Frank Progar on September 24, 1932 at Saint Cyril and Methodius in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2001. They had two children Marilyn Golichnik of Fond du Lac and Richard Progar (deceased). Katherine managed the produce department at Bensman Food and Park and Shop for 25 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of St Cyril & Methodius Church Christian Women's Society and S.N.P.J.Her family includes daughter Marilyn (Joe) Golichnik of Fond du Lac, and daughter in law Barbara Progar (Jerry) Frank of Sheboygan. Grandma was blessed with seven grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Kuhnz, Kate (Gary) Flohr, Ann Marie (Jeff) Ipsen, Joe (Katie) Golichnik, Tori (Cal) Aschebrock, Sara (Rich) Pearce, Kelly Wuestenhagen, 14 great grandchildren Brian (Dawn) Kuhnz"ž Julie (Nick) Rusch, Danny (Sarah) Kuhnz, Tony (Katie) Mathos, Angie Ipsen, Amy (Jon) Leonard, Callie Otto, JT and Patrick Golichnik, Maggie Ashebrock, Derek and Amanda Pearce, Erin and Cody Wuestenhagen, and 9 great-great grandchildren.She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and special friends Greta Erdman and Gwen Eckman. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Agnes and Marcel Blazich, her husband Frank of 68 years, son Richard, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 great granddaughter Jennifer.Katherine will be missed greatly by all those who were lucky enough to know her. She will be remembered by her kindness and generosity and one of her favorite sayings 'It is not what you gather, it is what you scatter. She was a wonderful cook and often shared her meat biscuits, cookies, potica, homemade quilts, and many other goodies with others. As her husband, Grandpa Frank, would say 'Come Good Home'.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac.Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday September 9, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, Fond du Lac. The Reverend Victor Capriolo will officiate and burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, Sheboygan. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
