On June 5, 2015 Kathleen “Kathy” Alice Magana died peacefully after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) at home with her family. She was born in Two Rivers, WI to Lawrence A. Rocque and Celestine nee Malkowski Rocque on December 14, 1940.
Kathy was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity from 1954-1969 as Sister Marian Rose Rocque. She graduated from high school at Holy Family Convent and taught grade school 6 years in Green Bay where she became an avid Packer fan.
On April 18, 1970, she married the love of her life, John Magana, at Sacred Heart Church. She graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1972 and a Master’s in Nursing Education in 1985. She worked as an RN at St. Agnes Hospital for 27 years, the Lutheran Home for 3 years and Marian University for 6 years.
Kathy enjoyed gardening and especially mowing the lawn, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, NFL football, her flower bed, traveling and keeping up with the world’s events.
Kathy dedicated both her personal and professional life to making others happy, healthy, and comfortable. She inspired untold numbers of people with her always positive, upbeat personality and “never quit” attitude.
Alongside her beloved husband, John, she always put family first. While some find happiness in pursuing friendships, Kathy and John spent nearly all their time, effort and resources on raising their three children and three grandchildren.
Kathy maintained a strong and unwavering faith in God throughout her life. A proud member of the Catholic Church, she drew a tremendous amount of personal strength from the Word of the Lord.
Kathy leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, John; their children, Yvonne (Norbert) Gonzalez, Ryan (Heidi Springborn) Magana, Rebecca (Karl Sheerar) Magana; their grandchildren, Adrian and Nigel Magana and Leonardo Gonzalez; her sisters, Joleen (Joe) Frank, Carol Stephan, Roseanne Rocque (Connie Cornell); brothers, Daniel Rocque, Robert (Annette) Rocque; sister-in-law, Judy Rocque; many nieces and nephews.
